Okay, so I'm back and I survived my trip of what can only be described as one of macarbe interest! The journey started at Liverpool Airport last Saturday flying out to Warsaw airport, then spending a day in the Polish capital, then travelling down to Krakow in the South of the country for the night (great nightlife!).
Then it was a train down to Premeshyl (spelling wrong without a doubt) which is on the border with the Ukraine... we then went over the border and up to Kiev for the night. In the morning it was off to the 'Exclusion Zone' where we met officials in Chernobyl and took a trip to the Nuclear Power Plant famed for the disaster some 20 years ago. After a tour of the abandoned town of Pripyat it was back to Kiev for the train to Krakow where we had another night, followed by a final night in Warsaw and a flight back to Liverpool.
Wow.
So, first and foremost here's a video of the area surrounding the power plant and the abandoned village of Pripyat that once was home to some 40,000 communist workers.
More pictures and information will follow as I get the time to post them.
